It would be nice if someone came up with a fix that doesn't require one to remove the attributes. The plugin activated at that point, however now my widgets page is stuck at Events list So I can add the Archives, Calendar and Categories widgets, but my events calendar widget is conected to everything else... I could add a picture if you like? So is there anyway you can go through and fix the short tags? I tried turning it on in my php.ini but that didnt seem to help... im going to look into it a little more later... I just started with this today and these are my findings thus far.
